Oaklands Haven Flirt

Flirt is our special baby. She was born at 5:30 in the afternoon on the 19th of September in 2003. Within 6 hrs of her birth Flirt was an orphan. Her mum died from foaling complications and she was on her own. I called everywhere looking for a Nanny mare. Options were scarce and costs were inhibitive. So, I set about the 2hr shifts to keeping her alive. She was very lucky to have an "Aunty" hanging anxiously over the fence wanting to help. So, while I was her food source, my oldest and dearest mare "Jaime" took on the role of supervision and education. After all, what could I teach her about being a horse??
Today Flirt is a proven mother herself and a very valued member of the crew. Flirt is also registered Palomino (APHA).

Pinky is a lovely quiet Perlino mare out of the lovely "Lady Jane". Her full brother is the Buckskin stallion "Cas Sir Raybuck" owned and campaigned by Wayne Caslick.
Pinky is the mother of "Oaklands Haven By Design" a stunning buckskin colt by "Chebel Bud" our black stallion. You will find shots of Beadie in the 2008 foals page. Pinky is also registered Perlino (APHA).

Di came to us green broken with her sister "Haydon Bush Gem" several years ago. She was used as a saddle horse for several years. Ridden by both adults and children she has an exceptional temperament. In 2006 she had a lovely buckskin colt Oaklands Haven Jive by Oaklands Haven Slip. She is due to foal to Sovereign Prince in late 2008.

Sally has been with us for many years now . She originally came to us with her sister "Haydon Night Star" as a green broken mare. Sally was used as a saddle horse for several years ridden by both adults and children. She is a lovely safe mare to ride and has competed successfully in campdraft and sporting. Sally is the mother of our beautiful "Oaklands Haven Slip" and is due to foal again in late December with a full brother or sister to Sovereign Prince.

Honey arrived shortly after purchasing her mother in foal to Tongo Prophet. Her bloodlines include Sir Tristram, Abbey and Chan. Honey was used as a saddle horse for many years until realizing that her legs were getting longer and mine were getting shorter. At 16+hands she is a very big mare. Honey is a half sister to Cha Cha and Flirt all beign out of Tongo Cleo. She herself had her fist foal in 2007 – "Oaklands Haven Rebel".
Oaklands Haven Sparkey

Sparkey is one of Prince’s first foals. She was shown successfully as a youngster then started under saddle by Phil Rodey. Sparkey has had one foal (Oaklands Haven Ignite) and is due to foal to Chebel Bud in December 2008. Ignite has been retained by us as a saddle horse and is one of the smartest little ponies I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His new sister (Blush) will be the same. Sparkey is also registered Palomino (APHA). Sadly we lost Sparkey to an undiagnosed illness in May 2010.
Oaklands Haven Cha Cha

Cha Cha is a full sister to Flirt and half sister to Honey. Due to injury as a young horse she was never broken in. She is therefore, one of the biggest PETS on the place. In 2007 she foaled a beautiful buckskin colt (Oaklands Haven Victory) by Chebel Bud. Sadly we lost him at 6 weeks of age. Cha Cha is also registered Cremello (APHA).
Oaklands Haven Rock N Roll
Born: 3rd October 2006
Dam: Copper
Sire: Sovereign Prince
Will be registered first cross Australian Stock Horse (ASHS). She is also registered Buckskin (APHA).
Roxy´s mum was an unregistered Quarter Horse mare we purchased in foal to our own stallion. The mare has since been sold back to the previous owner and Roxy remained with us. She is a lovely little filly with no fear. In all of her training to date she has accepted everything thrown at her and simply moved forward. We are very happy with her development and expect she will mature into a very nice mare. Roxy has now been sold. Her progress will be tracked on our website.

Spider is a mild tempered filly who has already learnt to lead, tie-up, float and hobble. She is a pleasure to handle and loves the farrier. There is absolutely no trouble catching this filly, she will run to you in the paddock for the halter. We expect she will grow to around 15.2 hands.
Oaklands Haven Black Label

Will be registered First Cross Australian Stock Horse (ASHS) when she turns 2yrs old.
Belle was our first "Bud" foal and a real pleasure. She is a real eye catcher in the paddock and has raised many an enquiry. Her mother is an unregistered mare of unknown origin who came to us to work for re-sale. That was about 5 yrs ago!! She was such a nice and safe mare under saddle that we kept her.
Belle, like Spider, has taken all of her training in her stride. No fuss and no trouble to do anything with. She leads, ties, hobbles, floats and trims no problems.
